Hello and welcome to my tiny little blip on the internet!
My name is Misty and I am an artist, a metalsmith, a lampworker, a torchworker, a lost wax caster - a human that loves to create! I use metal, glass, gemstones, beads and anything else that catches my eye to create unique handmade jewelry.
I love everything about art and the process of creating. To take an idea from the mind and bring it into existence is magical. My favorite materials are glass and silver. I love everything about silver. I love to melt it, saw it, hammer it, bend it, and turn it into something beautiful. Glass - oh how I love thee! There is something so special about molten glass and I will always be amazed that I can melt it and manipulate it into something wearable and beautiful.
My Educational Journey
January 2002 - I took my first metalsmithing class at Tulsa Community College. I studied under Bill Derrevere for four semesters. March 2002 - I took my first lampworking class at Tulsa Stained Glass Studio. I torched on a Hot Head and made lots of fugly beads in this class, but boy was it fun! May 2004 - I graduated from the Jewelry Technology program that was offered at Oklahoma State University - Okmulgee. I spent approximately 2 1/2 years studying the art of creating fine jewelry with Steven Sherrill as my instructor. This is where I fell in love with lost wax casting! 2011 - I took a hiatus from the studio and went to nursing school. In May 2013 I graduated from nursing school and I am very proud to say that I am a Registered Nurse. |
